When I was a kid, I used to draw out character select screens from Super Smash Bros. on paper. I would add as many characters as I could. For me, the screen where you select a character in a video game holds a lot of power, and seeing that screen can really open up your imagination. It was one of the things that pushed me to make Super Smash Bros. Crusade with my brothers when I was ten years old (I stopped working on the game after our success at APEX 2013). Since I got into graphic design at a young age, I have made more fake Super Smash Bros. character select screen that I can count or even remember. Soon after making a popular hoax for a Super Smash Bros. Arcade Build, I decided to streamline the process for creating character select screens with a pack of image assets called Roster Builder.

The first release of Roster Builder was December 30th, 2015 with less than 100 character icons. Roster Builder 2.0 released on January 4th, 2016 with over 150 character icons. On May 14th, 2016, Roster Builder 3 released with over 380 character icons. Over 900 character icons were included in Roster Builder 4 when it released July 3rd, 2016. Roster Builder 5 was announced a year later but wasn't released until January 4th, 2018 - two years after Roster Builder 2.0 - with over 1,700 character icons. As of December 21st, 2018, Roster Builder has over 2,000 character icons.

Graphic design has always been a hobby of mine, and video games have always been very inspiring for me. Roster Builder combined those passions and I hope that for others with similar interests or entirely different interests, this image pack allows for easy and fun creative exploration.
